SPFL 2: Match Preview East Fife v The SpartansThe curtain comes down on the 36 match cinch League 2 campaign as Douglas Samuel’s men head across the Forth to Methil where they take on East Fife. With the Play-Offs already secured and many permutations still in the mix over anticipated opponents next Tuesday evening at Ainslie Park, The Spartans go into the game with a final spot in the table of fourth or third in the balance. Undefeated in their last six outings, the North Edinburgh outfit will need to be wary of Dick Campbell’s side looking to end their season at home on a high following an unwelcome hat-trick of defeats on the bounce. In their previous encounters this season, the honours are even with a win apiece and a draw in the opening game between the teams back in September. Last time out at Bayview, Blair Henderson netted a hat-trick in a 0-3 victory in a re-arranged clash. Henderson’s hat-trick contributed towards his 18th in the SPFL 2 this season where he is four ahead of Matty Aitken in the race for top scorer honours. At the other end of the park, Blair Carswell and Allan Fleming are in joint 3rd for clean sheets – each with 9 for the season – although the home stopper has featured in eight more games than ‘The Cat’. Meanwhile, the sides both go into the game proudly sitting in joint bottom place in the Red Card table, remaining the only two teams not to have seen an early shower administered by a Referee across the season.
