SPFL: Returned Cat feline up to scratch for Stenny showdownAs The Spartans head towards the half way stage in their inaugural SPFL 2 season, they welcome Stenhousemuir to Ainslie Park as ‘first footers’ in 2024. After returning to the starting XI after time on the treatment table, Blair Carswell put in a Man of the Match display in last week’s win over Peterhead. It’s another top four affair in succession this weekend and ‘The Cat’ is relishing the opportunity to play in yet another tight tussle against Stenny. Carswell said, “It’s great being back between the sticks again and a clean sheet is always good as was the three points to bring down the road with us too. “I’m looking forward to this Saturday and hopefully we can get another big result and keep battling at the top end of the table. “Obviously Stenhousemuir have been on a great run and are sitting top of the league, credit where credit’s due. It’s going to be a tough game for sure but we’re in a good place ourselves to be fair. We’re going into the game five matches unbeaten, four without conceding, in third spot and it’s at home too. “Both games we’ve played in so far have been tight with only one goal separating us in each of them. We’ve not had the rub of the green in those two games so here’s hoping it’ll be third time lucky and we’ll come away with a positive result.” ”At this stage in the season, there’s not a lot of pressure on us and we’ll continue to take every game as it comes.” Kick-off is 3.00pm. The Cafe Bar will be open to all supporters. Save time at the turnstiles and buy your tickets in advance via Fanbase. Supporters Update: With Hibs and Hearts not in action due to the Winter Break, it’s an ideal opportunity for fans to get a weekend’s worth of football across the capital and Spartans continue to offer a half price offer for season ticket holders of both clubs. Just show your club’s season ticket at the turnstile to benefit from this deal. Match Programmes are on sale priced £3. First time to Ainslie Park?
