SPFL 2: Henderson set for festive nitty gritty against Elgin City

The Spartans head north on Saturday where they will face Elgin City at Borough Briggs in the latest round of SPFL 2 fixtures.

Blair Henderson will be looking to lead from the front, as he did in last week’s victory over Forfar Athletic, scoring the decisive second half winner in foul weather at Ainslie Park.

Henderson, who has netted 71 times for the club reflected on the last seven days and offered his thoughts on the 90 minutes ahead; “Last week v Forfar was possibly the most stereotypical SPFL 2 game you could have asked for and you need to learn how to win those ones. 

“We’ve played a lot of good football this season but last week in those conditions it showed the other side of what we can do as well.

“Elgin will undoubtedly be a difficult team to break down at home.  They are a decent side but we’ll be going up there trying to put in a good performance which we probably didn’t do last week and hopefully it will lead to a positive result and three points to bring back down the road with us.

“December is undoubtedly a big month for us.  We’ve got a busy period with a lot of games and despite those narrow defeats to Stenny and Peterhead, we’ve shown how we can bounce back and we must keep that momentum going on Saturday and make up for those lost points.”

Earlier in the season when the sides last met, Spartans edged out the visitors 2-1 with goals from James Craigen and Rhys Armstrong securing full points.

Kick-off at Borough Briggs is 3.00pm.
