Lowland League | Spartans back to business with trip to Bo’nessIt’s back to league action for Spartans after a comprehensive clean sheet victory over Dunipace in the South Challenge Cup on Saturday when they make the short journey to face Bo’ness United. The win sees Dougie Samuel’s side extend their unbeaten run to eleven games however Wednesday night’s hosts will be looking to bounceback at the first time of asking after their Cup exit in a seven goal extra time thriller against Caledonian Braves. The fixture will be the fourth between the sides with Spartans edging the tale of the tape with two victories to one. The first of those coming in an epic encounter in August 2021 when Michael Bolochoweckyj popped up to perfect the ultimate of comebacks after his side went two goals behind. Within the home ranks are Lennon Walker, who made his Spartans debut in the aforementioned fixture, whilst Jamie Penker is part way through his six week loan spell at Newton Park. ADMISSION INFORMATION The match kicks off at 7.45pm. Admission prices are £8 for adults and £5 for concessions. PREVIOUS MATCH Spartans 2-0 Bo’ness United – 30/08/22. The hosts bounced back in this midweek encounter following a disappointing defeat to East Kilbride the previous weekend as goals from Rhys Armstrong and Cammy Russell earned Spartans the win. Bo’ness came close a couple of times to breaking the deadlock in the first half, shooting narrowly wide and forcing Blair Carswell into producing what turned out to be crucial saves in the outcome of the game. The opener came following some slack defending from the visitors and it was Armstrong who pounced to score. A second was added ten minutes later after Armstrong and Brad Whyte combined for the ball to be whipped into the box. Jordan Tapping winning the aerial battle and the ball falling to Russell who finally found the net after the ball pinged off legs akin to a pinball against levers. TWITTER GUY TOP TIP The Barracuda chippy next to the ground is well worth a visit if you’ve not had yir tea. |
