Lowland League | Brown seeks winning start to demanding DecemberSpartans are back in Park’s Motor Group Lowland League action this weekend with a trip to Cumbernauld Colts. Dougie Samuel will be keen to see his side continue their eight match unbeaten run against the hosts which goes back to 2017, however games between the sides last season saw both fixtures won by solitary strikes. Striker Sean Brown was looking forward to getting back into competitive action since he scored a brace in the recent 9-0 cup win over Glasgow University. “It’s a big month for the club, with five games coming up including a busy Christmas period. It also leads into a hard January as well with a few of the teams around us at the top of the table to play then too. “It’ll be important for us to keep up the momentum and when we hit January and those big games, we’re right in the running for it. We’re on a good run so it’s key that we continue building on this game after game.” “With most of our games on artificial pitches, hopefully this prevents games being off over the winter so we don’t get bogged down in playing catch-up which can add extra challenges as well. “We’ve had a couple of friendlies since our win over Glasgow Uni to keep the lads ticking over with game time, but we’re looking forward to getting back into competitive action against Colts on Saturday.” “Colts will be tough opponents as ever and I don’t think their league position necessarily reflects what they are capable of. Last time out we won 3-0 and perhaps the scoreline flattered us a little as they were a tough side to break down.” The match at Broadwood Stadium kicks-off at 3pm. Admission £8 Adults, £4 Concessions, Under 16s free with a paying adult. |
