Lowland League | Spartans head for midweek Shire showdownThe Spartans head to Falkirk Stadium this evening for a midweek Lowland League encounter against East Stirlingshire, as Dougie Samuel’s men look to get back to winning ways following Saturday’s narrow North Edinburgh derby disappointment. Tonight’s game is the first of four matches to be played in a narrow ten day window with maximum points high on the Gaffer’s agenda as he looks for his charges to extend their unbeaten away run against Shire. In the ten league games between the sides so far, 50% of these have ended in stalemate, an outcome neither will be keen on come full time. Spartans edge out the wins by 3-2 with the goals almost evenly split, with the visitors nudging their way to an 18-16 advantage. Last time out the sides failed to find the net however who can forget the dramatic last gasp Jake Davidson nine-man Spartans winner in December 2019 at the same venue or the Blair Atkinson hat-trick in a seven goal thriller at Ainslie Park a year prior. Both classic clashes and who knows, we might just be due another one tonight. Kick-off is at 7.45pm. Admission is £10 Adults, £7 Concessions and we are reliably informed that the catering stall will be serving hot food, which will be a welcome bonus on what’s set to be a decidedly autumnal evening. |
