Lowland League | Tapping champing at the bit for University challenge

Spartans make the trip to Peffermill on Saturday afternoon looking to maintain their unbeaten Lowland League record against Edinburgh University.

One man who will be at the heart of the Spartans defence looking to secure three points and keep a clean sheet is Jordan Tapping.

Talismanic Tapping joined the club from SFPL 2 side Stenhousemuir in the close season and has already established himself an integral part of the defence.

The 26 year old who picked up the Malt and Hops Man of the Match award in midweek against Rangers B said, “It’s been a good start to my time here.  Dougie has a way he wants the side to play and I feel like I’ve slipped in to the position of centre half pretty well.

“Playing alongside the likes of Kev (Waugh) and Calum (Burns) for example has helped me tremendously as they’ve talked me through how we like to play and I think that partnership has grown and developed already.  I feel that when I’m playing alongside them things do run smoothly which makes things more composed and enjoyable.

Tapping is keen to take the performance from last Saturday’s win over Gala and head across the Capital to take on Edinburgh University to make it back to back Lowland League victories.

“I think the way we played last week is how we have set out to play this season and if we put that into practice consistently, we will do well this year.

“I’m sure Edinburgh University will be keen to make like difficult for us and it will be another challenging ninety minutes however if we turn up like we did against Gala, there’s no reason to fear anyone.”

Kick-off at Edinburgh University is at 3pm.  We look forward to our annual outing to sample the legendary home baking by Team MacKinnon.
