Lowland League | Spartans out to take Border control against ValeAfter a last gasp midweek nail-biter against Celtic B, Spartans head to the Borders this weekend to take on Vale of Leithen in the Lowland League. Blair Carswell’s return for Tuesday’s win saw the goalie come through unscathed and he is set to continue between the sticks for the trip down the A7. Dougie Samuel will be looking to build on that dogged determination that saw off Celtic for the second time in a month against a Vale side who seek their first win of the campaign. The hosts, under new gaffer Grant Sandison, have seen improved performance in recent times, restricting league leaders Bonnyrigg to just a brace of goals earlier in the week. Sandison has strengthened the Victoria Park side since his appointment, making five new signings along the way and Spartans will be looking to take the game to the Innerleithen outfit from the opening whistle as they set out to add to their nine-match unbeaten run against Vale. Kick-off 3pm. Admission £7/£5. |
