Lowland League: More of the same at Stirling is call from Hitman NewmanSpartans make their first away trip of the Lowland League season on Saturday with a visit to Forthbank Stadium to take on Stirling University. The Ainslie Park side take on the Students looking to make it a hat-trick of victories however Gaffer Dougie Samuel will be cutely aware of the dangers the Greens have caused his side over the years. With 3 goals in four games, including a cheeky tap in on Tuesday night at Gala, new recruit Sam Newman is keen to continue his fine form and build on his thirst for finding the back of the net. “Delighted to be playing in my preferred position really. I want to get involved in the goals, a few tap-ins and helping my team mates out. I feel like the goals have kind of fallen to me and its great to be back on the scoreline again. With the perennial tight schedule in the opening weeks of the season, Newman is more than aware of the need to have a positive start to what promises to be a tough campaign. The 20 year old, who signed from Edinburgh City during the summer added, “I think it really sets you up for the remainder of the season and the pair of four-nil victories is really important and gives us a good platform to build on and hopefully we can continue doing it for the rest of the season. “I don’t know too much about Stirling Uni personally having not played against them before, but I would imagine them to be a very fit team as are all University sides. We’ll need to work hard from the start and hopefully we can build on the momentum.” Supporters heading to Forthbank will get entry via the East stand. Prices £6 for adults and £4 for concessions. |
