Signing News: Blair Henderson joins Spartans

Posted on Friday, June 18th, 2021

Spartans are delighted to announce the signing of striker Blair Henderson from Edinburgh City.

The prolific marksman is not only familiar with the Ainslie Park surroundings but also the way to goal here too, with 58 goals in just 91 appearances for City since he joined them in the summer of 2018. His opening season saw his winning the SPFL League 2 player of the season and Tartan Boot awards.

At a towering 6’4”, the striker is the latest in top class signings made by Dougie Samuel over the close season ahead of the forthcoming Lowland League campaign.

The 26 year old got some game time under his belt with his new team mates in last night’s closed door friendly against Tynecastle and is looking forward to the challenge ahead.

Henderson said of the move, “I had a few offers from League 1 and 2 teams but once I had spoken to the manager, I felt this was the best place for me. I’m excited for the challenge ahead of helping the club get to where they want to be. The ambition is clear to see and I hope I can be a part of it.”

Welcoming his latest recruit, the gaffer added, “It’s no secret we’ve been pro-actively looking to secure a proven striker. As soon as I got wind Blair was available we contacted him straight away. His proven pedigree, age, ambition and experience make him a great fit for us as we look to challenge and achieve our goals.

“I’m really excited to work with Blair and confident he can do well for us going forward.”

You can see our new signing in action next Wednesday when we welcome Dunfermline to Ainslie Park. Information on tickets can be found here.
