Corbett makes SPFL step up as skipper signs for StennyThe Spartans Football Club have confirmed today that Adam Corbett has signed for SPFL 2 side Stenhousemuir. 23 year old Corbett, in his second year as Captain, makes the move to Ochilview after spending almost a decade at Ainslie Park. The Academy graduate played 113 games and found the net 12 times since making his senior debut in the 0-3 victory over East Kilbride in the Lowland League Cup in April 2017. Speaking of his transition from Spartan to Warrior, the Defender, who also skippered the Under 20s side to silverware during his spell at the club said, “Spartans Football Club has been a second home to me for the past 9 years. I’ve been fortunate enough to have so many memories with this club and create moments of history that I’ll always cherish and look back on. “Spartans have helped me develop so much as a player but more importantly as a person too. I was incredibly proud to finish my time as the captain of the club I loved playing for so much. “I can’t thank the players, the coaching staff over the years, the chairman, the board and the whole Spartans family, including the community staff and members, enough, for their support throughout my time at Spartans. “I am excited for my next challenge and feel like this is the right time for me to take that step. I wish the club and everyone involved, every success in the future and the seasons ahead.” Manager Douglas Samuel added, “Adam has been fantastic servant and leaves with our best wishes. He’s developed and grown into a top player at our level, has learnt from some top team mates – Tolmie and Bolo in particular. It’s been a real joy working with him and supporting him on his journey. “To be honest I’m surprised no one has taken a chance on him before now. I believe he has the potential to play even higher. I’d like to wish him all the best for the future & look forward to tracking his progress in the game. He’s a class act on and off the park.” Chairman Craig Graham noted, “We’re delighted for Adam that he has the chance to go to such a good club. He has set a great example for all our young players. Since joining us when he was 15 he has focused on all aspects of his game and fully deserves this opportunity. Adam certainly has the potential to kick on from SPFL 2. We wish him well.” |
