There is a Greenhill, far away… Davey departs for pastures newSpartans FC have confirmed the departure of the talismanic David Greenhill. With 148 appearances, 44 goals and a plethora of assists under his belt, Davey heads for a Player / Coach role at Broxburn. Speaking of the news, Manager Dougie Samuel commented, “Without doubt Davey is one of the best signings I have ever made. He’s also one of the best players I’ve ever coached – he would be in my ultimate Top 5. “Some players impact is much greater than the 90 minutes on a Saturday. The best players help others to improve and grow by raising the standards at a Club – Davey did just that. “A true cultural architect without ever raising his voice. I’m thrilled he’s joining a great club in Broxburn to work with fellow ex-Spartans Towner & Beezer.” Greenhill made his mark at Ainslie Park with four full seasons under his belt followed by a part time stint during last years aborted campaign. During that time he won several trophies and without doubt one of the best players to have graced the Lowland League. A departing Greenhill said, “I would like to thank everyone at the club from the Chairman to the Academy staff for always making me feel like being part of something special. Playing for Spartans has been the most enjoyable place I’ve played football and I’ve made a lot of good friends at the club. “I would just like to thank the gaffer for always believing in me and becoming a mentor and a great friend. I wish the players and coaching staff all the best for the future. There’s exciting times ahead for this great club.” |
