Summer signings unveiled: Samuel adds to squad with trio of new recruitsThe Spartans are gearing up for next season with a trio of signings of new recruits at Ainslie Park as Dougie Samuel begins his preparations for a post-lockdown return to action is. Joining us for 2020/21 season, in whatever fashion that may take, are John Grant, Dan Baur & Sam Jones. The Gaffer gave his thoughts on the hat-trick who have put pen to paper. John Grant The midfielder is back for his second full spell at the club, looking to add to his 115 appearances and 9 goals. A favourite with the Spartan Army faithful, his return will be warmly welcomed by the fans. The Gaffer: “John’s return has been a year in the making. His technical ability, will to win, desire to improve and experience are all attributes I expect to rub off on our younger players. John will be a positive influence around the place. He’s also a winner, someone who has won trophies as part of the club in the past, and brings a proven pedigree to our group.” Dan Baur 21 year old Dan is a former Scotland age-grade internationalist, representing his country at U15, U16, U17 & U19 level. Baur came through Hearts youth system and made his first team debut in November 2017, one of two appearances with the Tynecastle side. He also had a spell on loan at League 2 side Albion Rovers in 2018. The Gaffer: “I’m delighted to have secured Dan’s services for next season. He comes with an excellent pedigree and Lowland League experience from last season when on loan at Bonnyrigg from Hearts. His flexibility is an added bonus, equally important, his best years are in front of him. We look forward to helping him develop and grow into becoming a key part of our spine and player for us.” Sam Jones Sam is a former captain of Berwick Rangers Under-20 and joins us having spent four years at Penicuik accumulating over 100 appearances and is no stranger in finding the back of the net either with 34 goals. The Gaffer: “Sam is someone we’ve been tracking and trying to get for a couple of seasons. He will bring energy to the middle of the park which we’ve missed since David Greenhill stepped back from playing full time. He’s also a good age, is someone with the potential to improve and is hungry to prove himself at a higher level. I’m looking forward to working with him.” Congratulations on joining the club and hopefully it wont be too long before we see you all on the pitch soon. |
