Lowland League |Spartans hearts broken late on Valentine’s Day

Posted on Monday, February 17th, 2020

An alternative and brief match report this week…

A match day for the purists,
Over two hundred braved the rain,
Wetter than the Water of Leith,
As they squelched their collective way hame.

The sides were battling not only,
Against each other but the weather,
Storm Dennis playing a pivotal role,
In disrupting the match day leather.

The sides were battling not only,
Against each other but the weather,
Storm Dennis playing a pivotal role,
In disrupting the match day leather.

By half time chances were of short supply,
Both keepers not tested quite enough,
But with it being Valentines and that,
All you need is glove…

It was heading for a soggy stalemate,
On the wet Valentine’s Weekend,
Until the Fifers went up and scored,
Three minutes from the end.

(With apologies to poets and match report writers everywhere, ever – I ran out of time this weekend!)
