North Edinburgh Derby kicks-off 2020Spartans welcome first footers Civil Service Strollers to Ainslie Park for the opening fixture of the Lowland League new year. Only a point separates the sides who sit in 5th and 6th place respectively and the Derby promises to see 2020 start with a keenly fought contest. It’s been three weeks since Gary Jardine’s side were in competitive action whilst Spartans come into the game on the back of a positive December with a 75% win rate, including two clean sheets at home. Last time out saw Dougie Samuel’s side record a 1-2 victory over the Muirhouse men at a sun-soaked Christie Gillies Park that had former Scotland Manager Gordon Strachan amongst the sizeable crowd. Blair Atkinson and Adam Corbett were on hand to give the Pilton side a half time lead with the hosts clawing a goal back at the death which perhaps suggested the match was closer than it played out. Kick-off is at 3pm. Admission £7 Adults, £4 Concessions, Under 16s Free. Any Hibs, Hearts or Edinburgh City season ticket holders can attend for half price on the back of presenting their club’s pass at the turnstiles. |
