Football Nation Cup: Friday night lights for FNQ Cup nitty gritty against Nitten

Posted on Friday, November 30th, 2018

It’s Lowland League v East of Scotland as Spartans welcome Newtongrange Star to Ainslie Park for a Friday Night under the Lights clash in the Football Nation Cup 3rd Round.

Both teams were involved in high scoring matches last weekend, with seven goals shared between Spartans and East Stirlingshire that saw Dougie Samuel’s men climb back up the ladder to 3rd whilst Stevie McLeish’s men went on the rampage at lowly Arniston Rangers, recording an 8-1 victory away from home.

Leading the charge up top for Nitten is former Spartans starlet George Hunter who has already found the net 21 times this season, including a cheeky chip that helped curtail Civil Service’s South Challenge Cup hopes.

Meanwhile, Blair Atkinson’s first half hat-trick against the Shire saw yet another product of the Pilton pathway shine, with ‘Sid’ stepping up to the mark and producing a performance that could merit the striker further game time from the starting whistle.

Friday’s match is played to a finish.  Kick-Off 7.45pm.  Admission: Adults £7, Concessions £4 and Under 16s can watch for Free!

Start your weekend the Spartans way.  Get down and cheer on the boys to victory.
