Lowland League: Clash of old foes for Non-League Day

Posted on Friday, October 6th, 2017

Saturday sees old foes Spartans and Whitehill Welfare lock horns for the first time this season when the long-standing rivals meet at Ainslie Park on Non-League Day.

When the sides last met in North Edinburgh, Dougie Samuel’s side ran out 2-0 victors in what was another gripping encounter between two clubs who traded blows in the East of Scotland league for decades before the set-up of the Lowland League.

Spartans take a six match unbeaten run into the tussle, a stint that has seen them move into second spot in the table behind BSC Glasgow with a game in hand.

Welfare come to the capital with a mixed set of results behind them however are narrow defeat midweek to Colts and victory over Civil last Saturday will give them reason to believe they can come to Pilton and take something out of the game.

Scott Maxwell is expected to join all but Willie Bremner on the Gaffer’s availability sheet for selection, with everyone coming through Tuesday’s night’s victory unscathed.

Kick-off as ever is at 3.00pm.  Admission Prices: £7 Adults, £4 Concessions, Under 16s Free.
