Lowland League: Spartans set out stall to down Dorian scheme

Posted on Friday, September 8th, 2017

Spartans are back in Lowland League action on Saturday when they head across town to Peffermill to take on Edinburgh University.

The Students may sit in 14th spot in the table however there will be absolutely no cause for complacency amongst Dougie Samuel’s squad that welcomes back Dachi Khutsishvili, Blair Carswell and Alan Brown to the fray.

Last week’s Irn Bru Cup exploits sees Spartans play catch-up with games in hand over a host of clubs either side of their fourth placing and a win against Dorian Ogunro’s men will keep then in tune with the front running pack.

Both games last season ended in draws, with the previous encounter under the shadow of Arthur’s Seat ending in a frustrating stalemate.  This ensures that Spartans will need to bring their ‘A-game’ in order to break down a University side who, on their day, are more than capable of taking the points, particularly on home soil.

The match kicks-off at 3pm.  We’d recommend you turn up early for the fine display of home baking on sale inside the clubrooms.  Get there before I do…
