Lowland League returns! HRA first foot on opening dayIt’s back! This Saturday sees the return of the Ferrari Packaging Lowland League with Hawick Royal Albert the ‘first-footers’ at Ainslie Park in what is sure to be an exciting opening encounter to kick-off the campaign. Both sides will be looking to start the season with maximum points in what is set to become yet another pulsating rollercoaster for fans. With a sizeable series of fixtures in the diary over the opening two months, Dougie Samuel knows how important it is to get off to winning ways and he’s calling for the Spartan Army to do their bit by backing the boys on Saturday. Standing in Spartans way from doing so are the men from the Borders who will head to the capital keen to emulate their opening day success in North Edinburgh last year, when they defeated Civil Service Strollers, who entertain us at Christie Gillies Park on Wednesday evening. At the helm this year is Kenny Aitchison, the youngster boss in the Lowland League at the ripe old age of 23. The Spartans squad looks likely to feature several of the new signings made in the close season however Adam Corbett is ruled out due to suspension carried over from last year whilst Willie Bremner faces a race against the clock due to a dead leg sustained against Brora last weekend. You can find out what our Chairman Craig Graham’s thoughts are on the season ahead by reading his interview in the Edinburgh Evening News. The match at Ainslie Park kicks-off at the usual time of 3pm. Admission prices this season are £7 adults, £4 concessions and Under 16s can watch for free, maintaining our commitment to ensure affordable football for all. Season Tickets are still available and they represent tremendous value for money at just £70 adults, with 50% off for concessions. In addition to this, any SPFL season ticket holder can get 50% off their ticket on production of their own team’s brief at time of purchase. |
