Spartans set out to make it double silverware success in Sunday showdown

Posted on Friday, May 19th, 2017

Spartans take on BSC Glasgow on Sunday afternoon in the Final of the Lowland League Cup, looking to add to their recent silverware success in the Football Nation Qualifying Cup.

Last week’s semi final saw Ross Allum putting on a Man of the Match performance to guide his team to a second cup final outing of the season.

It’s been a tough trio of ties for Dougie Samuel’s squad at the end of the year however three clean sheets en route to the final – all on the road at East Kibride, East Stirling and Gretna 2008 – will offer the Spartans side a boost ahead of Sunday’s showdown.

The Final, to be played at Ainslie Park, 3pm kick-off, will be the third fixture between the sides this season.

The Tale of the Tape so far:

Spartans have come out on top in both of the meetings in the League however these have been tight affairs, with the odd goal in three securing the points each time.

Saturday 27th August
BSC Glasgow 1-2 Spartans (Thomson, Watson)

Saturday 17th December
Spartans 2-1 BSC Glasgow (Maxwell, Ward)

Squad news and Chris Townsley is back in contention following his suspension with Adam Corbett and Ewan Saunderson also joining the squad.
