Lowland League: Students offer latest test for SpartansOn the back of last week’s emphatic win against second top East Stirlingshire, Dougie Samuel’s in-form Spartans make the short trip across the capital to take on Edinburgh University at Peffermill in the latest Ferrari Packaging Lowland League encounter.Sunday’s victory moves the Ainslie Park side to within one point of East Stirling with a game in hand however the University side are always a difficult opponent on their home patch which is a somewhat unfamiliar nowadays, grass pitch. Ross Allum will be looking to build on his debut double against a University side who sit in 14th spot, a position that perhaps doesn’t offer them enough credit for their willingness to play fast-flowing football. Keith Murray is back in contention for a squad spot after his recovery from injury sustained in the Football Nation Cup win at East Kilbride. Dan Ward is also available for selection whilst Jack Hay has returned to the training paddock and is not far away from featuring in the gaffers plans once again. The match at Peffermill kicks-off at 3pm. We recommend you turn up early as their home-made scones are great. |
