Samuel out to topple Tynie in tough Challenge Cup testSpartans make the short trip across the capital on Saturday for the early afternoon Challenge Cup 3rd Round tie against Tynecastle FC.The 1.30pm kick-0ff at Saughton Enclosure sees two sides looking to progress in what is the keynote competition for sides in the South region. Dougie Samuel’s preparations were handed a blow with the enforced withdrawal of the injured David Greenhill however the talismanic duo of Paul Thomson and Blair Tolmie are back in contention for starting berths. Also back for selection is Jack Hay who has shaken off the knock that saw his return to Gala last week prematurely curtailed. Despite being in 7th place in the East of Scotland League table, the disparity of fixture completion means Stevie Vinter’s side’s threat shouldn’t be based on their early domestic performance and on home turf, they will be keen to build on last week’s impressive 0-3 win away to Stirling University’s 2nd XI.
