Lowland League: Samuel out to preserve unbeaten Dalbeattie run

Posted on Wednesday, September 28th, 2016

Spartans head to Dalbeattie on Saturday determined to maintain their unbeaten run against a Star side looking to bounce back from their Scottish Cup exit last weekend.

Dougie Samuel takes his team to the Dumfriesshire town keen to keep the momentum going at the business end of the table as the season completes a second month of trials and tribulations in the four year of the competition.

The inaugural Lowland League champions are undefeated in their previous four outings, with on loan hitman Craig Johnston showing his goal scoring pedigree since his move from Cowdenbeath earlier this month, including a last minute penalty winner against East Stirling at home last weekend.

Despite their cup loss in horrendous conditions at the Islecroft ground, Star have back-to-back league wins behind them as they head into a fixture that always delivers thrills, spills and goals.

With Keith Murray and Jack Beesley injury doubts, Samuel is boosted by the return to the squad of Dan Ward whilst there may still be time for a new face in the side come kick-off time.

Meanwhile, Brad Raiker has reunited, albeit temporarily, with former Spartans favourite Chris Anderson as the Midfielder joins Vale of Leithen on loan.

The match at Islecroft Stadium kicks-off at 3pm.  Admission Prices: Adults £5, Concessions £3.
