Two Craigs sign ahead of cup clash at ColdstreamSpartans manager Dougie Samuel has bolstered his squad with a double signing ahead of their South Challenge Cup tie away to Coldstream on Saturday.Former Stirling Albion and East Stirling Central Midfielder Craig Comrie has committed his immediate future to Ainslie Park whilst Striker Craig Johnston crosses the Forth on a loan deal until Christmas from Cowdenbeath. Comrie kicked-off his career as a 16 year old with Falkirk where he plied his trade as a full timer for three years before moving to Stirling Albion. Earlier this season, the midfielder moved to East Stirlingshire however it is with Spartans that Comrie will play his Lowland League football until the end of the season. Comrie featured as a Trialist in the 4-1 win over Gretna last weekend, a game Spartans won comfortably in the end which, the new recruit noted was “a shape of things to come.” The 21 year old playmaker said, “I’m delighted to be back playing and I’m impressed by the set-up here at Spartans and everyone has made me feel really welcome. Saturday’s game just helped improve on everything I thought about the place.” Joining Comrie in the squad for this weekend’s cup tie is namesake Johnston. Like Comrie, the Fife lad also brings SPFL experience to the squad and already he has shown his way to goal for the Blue Brazil during his brief set of substitute appearances this season. Formerly with Dunfermline and East Fife, the 21 year old is keen to give his season a re-boot following a series of starts on the bench. “The gaffer said to me that I wasn’t going to feature in his immediate plans and from there, a few clubs got in touch and Sammy was one of them. I didn’t rush in to making a decision on my next move and I spoke to a few folk who recommended coming to an ambitious club like Spartans. “I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and hopefully finding the back of the net during my time here.” The match at Home Park, Coldstream has a 2.30pm KO. |
