Busy period kicks-off at Peffermill for Sammy’s SpartansSpartans make the short trip across the Capital to Peffermill to take on Edinburgh University in what is set to be a busy week for Dougie Samuel’s side as clubs begin to tackle the Ferrari Packaging Lowland League backlog.Saturday’s game against the Students is the first of four in a seven days, with a trip to Rosewell on Monday before heading across the M8 to take on BSC Glasgow then ending a testing challenge at home against Gretna 2008. Both sides will be keen to secure the best possible final place in the league table come the end of the campaign, with the Ainslie Park side still locked in contention for the runners-up space with Stirling University. Doubles from Aaron Murrell – who returns to the squad – David Greenhill and a Paul Thomson strike gave Spartans a 5-0 win in the corresponding League fixture last August whilst the teams locked horns in the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup back in January, which saw Dean Horribine and Keith Murray find the net in a 0-2 victory. The Students will be keen to avoid an unwelcome hat-trick of defeats and Spartans will be looking to build on last weekend’s victory over Gala to kick-off a key period that will shape the way the season’s fortunes end. Kick-off at Peffermill is at 3pm. |
