Spartans set out to pitch perfect against BSC in midweek meetingMarch Mayhem for Spartans kicks-off in the West on Wednesday night when they take on BSC Glasgow in the first of four matches in an eleven day spell. The sides engage in Ferrari Packaging Lowland League action at Lochburn Park in this midweek meeting and they will do it all again across the M8 on Saturday in the South Challenge Cup.After scoring six on the synthetic surface at Netherdale last weekend, Spartans will be looking to hit the ground running at Lochburn where the hosts have only been able to play once since October due to the inclement weather. Keeper Blair Carswell was confident that the conditions wouldn’t play too big a part in what promises to be a tight affair, “With BSC finding it difficult to get game time on it, the park might cut up quite a bit during the ninety minutes and it could simply be a matter of digging in to pick up three big points. We will need to try our best to keep the ball on the carpet and play the type of football that we know we can play that brings results.” Carswell has been instrumental as Dougie Samuel’s last line of defence during the recent six match unbeaten run and is keen to ensure the momentum remains with the Ainslie Park side. The keeper, who moved up from the Under 20s at the end of last season added, “You never go into a game thinking you have the right to win. You need to prepare properly and focus on the game as it comes. Also, as we’ve seen during the winter, if the conditions on the day aren’t the best, you need to adapt and try our best to pick up a win – especially on the road.” The match kicks-off at 7.45pm. Postcode for the ground is G20 9AE. |
