Posted on Friday, December 4th, 2015

Spartans make the short trip across the Capital to Peffermill as the Football Nation Qualifying Cup begins to enter the business end of the knock-out tournament.

After wins against East of Scotland opposition in the previous rounds, the 3rd Round tie against fellow Lowland League outfit Edinburgh University offers Spartans their toughest test so far in the hunt for silverware.

Dougie Samuel’s side go into the game boosted by a convincing 0-7 win in the rain last weekend against Preston Athletic, whilst the Students will be looking to bounce back from their five goal loss against the league leaders at Meadowbank.

In their league encounter earlier in the season, Spartans scored five without conceding however Uni Manager Dorian Ogunro will know his side are capable of much more – and home advantage may play a part.  As far as clichés go, form goes out the window in the cup and the Ainslie Park side know they will have to bring their ‘A- game’ to the lush green paddock in the East of the city.

Kick-off is 3pm.
