EOS: Ferry Road derby day as Spartans welcome Craigroyston

Spartans look to keep the pressure on table toppers Leith Athletic when they welcome near neighbours Craigroyston to Ainslie Park on Saturday in the Central Taxis East of Scotland League.

Despite their 10th placed position in the league, Manager Colin Tomassi knows the dangers the St Marks Park side can cause, “I look forward to welcoming the Craigroyston management and players and I know personally how hard their committee work. However, sentiment won’t be an issue as we need to build on last week good result away to Peebles.

“It will be a tough challenge as Craigy have some excellent experienced players.  Our lads have worked hard during the week in preparation of the game and I hope we play well and get the result.”

Player availability this weekend sees Tomassi’s task to secure another vital three points a tougher one with Geri Rossi and Danny O’Donnell out injured, Ian Thomson and Mark Gair on business, Ewan Sanderson remains on Lowland League duty whilst young Sean Stewart celebrates his birthday in Paris.

There’s a welcome return to the side after injury for Kai Wilson whilst there are opportunities for some of the under 20s side to join the squad.

The match at Ainslie Park kicks-off at 3pm.
