Fancy representing Spartans at Futsal?

Posted on Thursday, October 29th, 2015

Futsal is an ideal game to develop touch and fitness for players of all ages. It develops creativity and imagination. Decision making times are reduced dramatically because of the small space the players have to work in and the speed of the game itself.

The 5-a-side league in Edinburgh kicks-off late November and we are currently looking to gauge interest in entering a Team Spartans into the competition.

Futsal is the only small sided game sanctioned by, and recommended by, FIFA and UEFA.

The organisers tell us that, “The league really took off last year and the Edinburgh winners were unlucky not to win the Nationals and progress to the UEFA Futsal Cup qualifiers which were held in Gibraltar last month. The place was taken by Santos who represented Scotland.

“The winner of the league will represent the South East in the Scottish National finals in May with the winner representing Scotland at the UEFA Futsal Cup qualifiers – so a great opportunity for all.

“Also, the Edinburgh Select side recently played its first matches against Middlesbrough, coming home with score draws in all matches, and a new u23 International Development squad has been announced.  So, it’s a really exciting time to get involved.”
