Edinburgh Derby Day looms as Spartans take on City

Posted on Friday, October 9th, 2015

It’s Derby Day in the Capital on Saturday when Spartans head to the Commonwealth Stadium to take on Edinburgh City in the Ferrari Packaging Lowland League.

The inaugural Lowland League champions take on the current holders in the competition’s match of the day with Spartans going into the game looking to collect three points in order to close the gap on the leaders who have played a game more than the chasing pack.

All four league encounters between the sides so far have been of the close kind, with two wins a piece for Dougie Samuel’s side and the Meadowbank-based outfit.

Captain Ally MacKinnon was looking forward to the derby clash, “This month is important for us, with City on Saturday and our Scottish Cup tie v Elgin sandwiched between two other cup games too.

“It’ll be an interesting game as ever against City and one I’m really looking forward to.  We’re coming into good form at the moment and have nothing to fear.”

Kick-off is 3pm with Admission Prices of £5 Adults & £3 Concessions.  Please note that no unaccompanied U18’s will be permitted into the Stadium during match days.
