Samuel’s Spartans look to reign in confident Colts

It’s back to Ferrari Packaging Lowland League business for Spartans on Wednesday night when they take on this year’s new boys Cumbernauld Colts in the inaugural meeting between the sides.

Spartans go into the game on the back of two clean sheet victories – a 5-0 win over Edinburgh University on League duty and last Saturday’s 7-0 victory over Burntisland Shipyard in the Football Nation Challenge Cup.

Wednesday night’s proposition will be a sterner test, with hosts Cumbernauld looking to add to their back to back wins over Selkirk and Threave Rovers, results that have propelled the Broadwood-based outfit into 4th place.

Manager Douglas Samuel’s side came through relatively unscathed against Shippy at the weekend and the Gaffer has no additional injury concerns ahead of the trip to Colts.  There’s a call-up to the squad too for youngsters Brad Raiker, Blair Atkinson and Andy Mair.

A win for Spartans could see them move to second place depending on outcomes across the midweek full card.
