Spartans picked up their second draw in as many games as they shared the spoils with Preston Athletic in a 1-1 draw at Ainslie Park.

The opening goal came in the 17th minute when Dean Horribine’s effort looked to be a comfortable catch under his crossbar however Flockhart fumbled and despite his despairing attempts to retrieve it, the ball squeezed between the keeper & his inside post.

Blair Carswell’s brave dive at the feet of Taylor Aitchison five minutes before the break ensured his side went in a goal to the good at the interval.

Half Time: Spartans 1-0 Preston Athletic

The visitors equalised within six minutes of second half.  Michael Herd picked up a booking for a trip inside his own half and Jamie Beaton’s free-kick evaded the home defence & Chris Moffat headed home in off post.

Keith Murray was unlucky not to restore the Spartans lead however he couldn’t get enough power in his header which fell kindly to Flockhart.

Preston went immediately on the offensive, James Martin hitting the deck on the edge of the home box under a Craig Stevenson challenge. Blair Carswell had to look lively to save at the second attempt.

Flockhart redeemed himself in the 72nd minute when he pushed a thunderous Dan Ward strike over the bar.

Eddie Malone almost stole it for Spartans at the death, only to see his header go wide.
