#GivingForGrim – Garry offers his thanks following fantastic response

Posted on Sunday, May 17th, 2015

On behalf of everyone at Spartans we would like to thank everyone for their fantastic generosity towards Garry (Grim) and his family.  Including Gift Aid we have raised more than £7000 – simply astonishing in just under four days.

We are delighted to report that Garry, Lynne and Jamie have moved into the Premier Inn in Newhaven for the interim period.

Club Chairman Craig Graham has been keeping in touch with one of the most familiar and popular faces on the terraces around the Lowland League and East of Scotland circuit (and not forgetting Pie & Bovril!) since Thursday’s devastating events.

Following today’s catch up, Grim has asked us to relay the following message:

“We have all been overwhelmed with the donations from across the Spartans and football communities plus friends, neighbours and people we don’t even know.  Thank you all very, very much.

“We bought clothes and toiletries on Friday plus other basics.  One of them had to be a mobile phone charger, critical because we want to reply to all the goodwill messages we have been getting.  They have been great at keeping our spirits high.

“We also needed a couple of decent bags to carry things in.  It wasn’t very cool walking around with all our belongings in a couple of Asda plastic bags.  Hopefully we will find a rental flat soon – furnished obviously!  Many thanks again, your donations & goodwill messages they are helping us to cope with our loss & will really help us move forward so much faster.”
