King Cup Semi-Final: EOS send SOS for Spartan Army sideline boostAlex Cunningham’s East of Scotland side take on the high flying Leith Athletic for the 3rd time in 2 weeks at Ainslie Park on Saturday in the Semi Final of the East of Scotland FA King Cup (3pm KO).Having lost out narrowly in last week’s League Cup Final, Cunningham’s men will be looking to redress the balance with more silverware still at stake. Cunningham said, “In all the games so far the real winner has been the supporters as both sides look to get the ball down and play. Leith have most certainly been the form team this season and we will have to be at our best to enable us to take something out of the game.” With the Lowland League side not in action this weekend, Cunningham is looking for the Spartan Army to answer his call to the arms just as they did last week by getting behind his team at St Mark’s Park. Spartans preparations for Saturday’s game were bolstered midweek when Jack Beesley, Barry Milven and Craig Stevenson got on the score sheet in a 1-3 win against Stirling in what was a difficult game on a very poor pitch. The victory consolidated 6th spot, just one point behind 4th place Civil Service Strollers. The winners take on either Peebles or Craigroyston who fight it out for a place in the Final in the other semi.
