Jimmy Brown

jimmy brownOur oldest regular supporter Jimmy Brown passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning at the grand old age of 93.

Living locally, he always took an interest in Spartans but it was when his grandson Alan started playing for the 2nd XI in the mid 90’s he started watching regularly.  When Alan’s brother Craig then joined our 1st XI squad Jimmy became a constant feature at City Park and every away game.

He enjoyed the improved facilities when we opened the Academy when he could relax with a cup of tea before the game and enjoy the banter in the Board Room corner.  He was eagerly transported to away games in the coach, the minibus or as navigator in the car trips to the Borders and took delight in waving his walking stick at either the referee or the opposition player if he didn’t like what he saw.

The photo shows him up at Tayport a couple of seasons ago, stick in hand!  He loved the Spartans and he will be truly missed.

His funeral is at Warriston at 3.30 on Wednesday 25th February followed by a celebration at the Academy in our café/bar.  Everyone is invited.
