Spartans get ready with new boy Eddie for Gretna challenge

Posted on Friday, January 30th, 2015

Spartans will be looking for a morale boosting win ahead of their Scottish Cup clash v Berwick when they take on an in-form Gretna 2008 at Ainslie Park on Saturday.

After securing a point at home last week against Edinburgh University, Dougie Samuel’s men entertain a Gretna side who sit second in the Scottish Sun Lowland League and remain undefeated in 10 games.

Gretna came out on top when the sides met at Raydale Park in August in a tousy tussle that resulted in a 2-0 win for the Stuart Rome’s outfit and Samuel will be looking to square up proceedings come 4.45pm.

If Spartans are to break their winning duck in 2015, they’ll have to do it without the services of Keith McLeod.  The talismanic striker saw his appeal following a red card against the Students last Saturday turned down at a hearing during the week.

On a brighter note for the Spartan Army faithful, after two outings as a Trialist, the club has secured the services of seasoned pro Eddie Malone.  The 29 year old signed in midweek after impressing the Gaffer during his trial spell.

Please note that due to traffic works in the area, Pilton Drive has been closed off at the junction with Ferry Road.  Please follow the diversion signs to the ground.

In addition to this, due to ground works being undertaken inside the Ainslie Park, we would ask that all spectators keep off the grass areas surrounding the pitch.

The game kicks off at 3pm.  Admission £5 Adults, £3 Concessions, Under 16s Free.
