Ready, Eddie, Go! Malone signs on for Spartans

Spartans are delighted to announce the signing of Eddie Malone.

The 29 year old impressed Dougie Samuel after the Spartans Manager invited the left wingback to train at Ainslie Park following Malone’s return from America where he was coaching ‘soccer’ full time.

Malone has made two Lowland League appearances under the Trialist tag recently and Samuel saw enough of the seasoned ex-professional player whose career in the Scottish Leagues stretches back over a decade.

Manager Douglas Samuel said of the signing, “Eddie has been training with us for a few months, since his return from America.  He had other options on the table including senior clubs looking to sign him, however, it’s a testament to our Club’s ambition and standing in the game that he has chosen to come here.

“I’m confident he will be a valuable addition to our squad.  With him being a natural left sided player, it helps to bring a greater balance to the squad”.

Malone said, “Dougie’s been really good with me since I came on board and I like the set-up here at Spartans.  I’ve enjoyed Dougie’s training sessions and when the Club asked me to sign, it was a no-brainer.  It’s allowed me to get match fit and also back playing again with the added bonus of the changing room having a good bunch of lads in it too.”
