Cup of cheer for five star Spartans as U/20s whallop Whitehill

Posted on Saturday, January 24th, 2015

Five different goal scorers were on target on Friday night as Spartans u/20s defeated their Whitehill Welfare counterparts 5-1 at Ainslie Park in the East of Scotland League Cup Qualifying group.

The game looked to be heading to a stalemate at the break before Spartans hit twice in as many minutes through Dylan Tait & Aaron Murrell.

The half-time whistle couldn’t come quick enough for the Welfare lads who were reeling on the ropes before the Referee stepped in.

The visitors were hit with another blow just three minutes after the interval when Sean Stewart struck to make it 3-0.

Blair Atkinson could afford the luxury of missing a penalty shortly after before he atoned for his error by grabbing the 4th in the 70th minute.

A consolation strike was all the visitors could show for their efforts before Jordan Brown made it high fives all round by finishing the scoring with ten minutes left on the clock.
