Scottish Sun Lowland League: Spartans 0-3 BSC Glasgow

Posted on Sunday, January 18th, 2015

BSC Glasgow gained revenge for their recent Cup defeat at Ainslie Park, scoring three times without reply in Saturday’s Scottish Sun Lowland League encounter.

There was an early opportunity for the visitors after Gary Cennerazzo misjudged the flight of a ‘Garry Owen’ that wouldn’t have looked out of place at Murrayfield however he was spared after Gary Graham couldn’t guide his shot home.

Paul-Jon Sludden, making his debut after signing from Stenhousemuir offered a long-range effort which saw Ian Stewart scramble low to push the ball round his post.  From the resultant corner, Iain Thomson’s half-volley from 20 yards kept the BCS shot-stopper on his toes.

His opposite number in the home goal Kevin Swain had to look lively in the 39th minute to tip Jordan McKechnie’s strike over his crossbar as the Glaswegians threatened to be the first to break the deadlock.

With almost the last kick of the first half they did.  Ross McKinnon fired a thunderous free-kick into the top corner from the edge of the box after Ally MacKinnon was penalised for an infringement which earned him a booking.

It was almost a second from McKinnon just five minutes after the restart however his header was well saved by Swain.  As the Spartans keeper tried valiantly to get back on his feet for the rebound, Gary Graham was the first to react to tap the ball over the line from close range.

On the hour mark, Jack Beesley replaced debutant Paul-Jon Sludden.  The substitute was en-route towards the BSC goal ten minutes later however his journey was abruptly halted by a combination of agricultural challenges and a premature end to any advantage being applied by the Ref.

With three minutes left on the clock, Tony Wallace sealed the points when he broke the offside trap to slot home.
