Borders bouncebackability sought by Samuel as Spartans take on Vale

Posted on Friday, January 9th, 2015

Boosted by the signing of 24 year old striker Paul-Jon Sludden from Stenhousemuir, Spartans look to get back to winning ways on the road this weekend when they travel to Innerleithen to take on Vale of Leithen in their latest Lowland League encounter.

Goals from Ally Mackinnon and Jack Beesley gave Dougie Samuel’s side a 2-0 victory in the previous encounter at Ainslie Park in September and the Spartans Manager is keen to make it a double over the Innerleithen based side.

“This Saturday we look to bounce back from the disappointment of last week.  Although it’s hugely unlikely Edinburgh City can (or will) be caught by anyone, our sole focus remains on developing and improving as a group, on concentrating on what’s within our own control.

“This season has delivered lots of positives already.  We still have lots to play for, starting with 3 points at Innerleithen, where we know we will face a stiff test.  On the player front, Willie Bremner and Jack Beacher returned to training last week and we are delighted to have secured the services of Paul-Jon Sludden on a loan deal until the end of the season.”

The match at Victoria Park kicks-off at 2pm.
