Sammy Looks to Bounce Back as Vale Visit AcademySpartans return to Ainslie Park for the first time in September as Vale of Leithen visit Ainslie Park in Lowland League action tomorrow. The match represents an opportunity for the players to respond following a last minute equaliser from Edinburgh University on Wednesday night. Spartans manager Dougie Samuel is without a number of key players, but hopes to bring two back into the squad for what is another vital game.“On the player front, as has been the case all season so far, we have several players unavailable today – Cloudy, Herdy and Beacher join Robbie Ross on the injured list, plus Hovis is unavailable. On the plus side, Donal and Mikey Bruce are both available for selection today as we seek to bounce back from our midweek disappointment.” The match is also another return for Mark Lamb. Lammy took charge of our Junior side when it was first installed. He took over at Vale during the summer and is joined by Spartans legend Jimmy Rae as his assistant manager, Chris Anderson as player coach and current Spartans player Jack Blaikie, who is on loan at Innerleithen until the end of the year. “We as a club ( Vale of Leithen ) have went through huge changes from within and we have a completely brand new young team with no players staying on from last season we will have many ups and downs this season as we look to try and establish ourselves and secure our place by the end of the season in this great league.” You can read more from Sammy and Lammy by picking up a copy of ‘The Spartan’ matchday programme at the game tomorrow. Kick off is at 3pm, entry is £5/£3 and all under 15s get in for free. |
