Old Friends Meet in New CircumstancesTonght we travel to Peffermill for a couple of ‘firsts’ against an old friend. This evening we will help officially open the newly re-developed Peffermill as we play Edinburgh University for the first time in the Lowland League. After working hard behind the scenes as they move towards meeting SFA licesne levels, the Students were elected over the summer to be one of two new sides to participate in the Lowland League this season. Peffermill has also seen a lot of redevelopment work over the summer and this will be the first official game at Peffermill after the Uni has played all their home games this season at the Pennypitt. The pitch has been rotated 90 degress, a new perimeter fence has been installed as well as covered seating for 100. We come into the game on the back of a convincing 7-0 victory over Burntisland Shipyard but Manager Dougie Samuel knows his side will face a harder task tonight. “Everyone is looking forward to being part of a historic occasion tonight. We know however that we will face a tough test on the park. On the squad front, Keith McLeod is rated 50/50 but Willie Bremner is back fit and in the squad.” Chairman Craig Graham is looking forward to the game and the occasion. “We’re delighted to be the guests at the opening on the new EUAFC stadium. The bond between our clubs remains very, very strong and after tonight we wish them all the very best in their new surroundings. The University have made a big investment to get into the Lowland League and this will attract even better players to the club. Uni football clubs are special environments to develop as a player and I wish everyone at EUAFC all the very best in the new chapter of their history.” |
