It’s a High Five After EOS Beat Stirling Uni

Posted on Monday, August 18th, 2014

Spartans EOS hit Stirling Uni for five on Saturday, as they got their Premier League campaign underway with an emphatic 5-0 win at home to Stirling University EOS.

The only major team change from last week was that Danny O’Donnell was in the EOS starting eleven with Sebastian Pyda suspended due to his sending against Civil Service.

The game started brightly as we created a number of chances however it was not until the 30 minute before we took the lead through an Ian Ballantyne goal, then 6 minutes later Mike Gray coolly lobbed the Stirling keeper to double the lead.  On 43 minutes Scott Clapperton added the third with a good finish.

Brad Raiker replaced the injured Davy Stewart at half time and the second half saw us continue to press forward and we managed to increase our lead in the 67 minute through a header by Matty Cunningham (who is now our top scorer with 3 so far this season).

With 5 minutes remaining Danny O’Donnell marked his first outing for the EOS side with a good looping header over the Stirling goalkeeper to give us a great start to the season as well as a clean sheet to go with 3 valueable points.

Team: Jacskon, McWhirter, Cochrane, Boyes, O’Donnell, Stewart (Raiker), Clapperton, Rusin, Cunningham(Adams), Ballantyne, Gray (Howatt).

In other news, the Saturday Amatuer side opened their league season with a 2-1 defeat away to East Linton. Gregg Veitch scored the only goal of the game.
