Pre-Season continues as Hibs u/20s head to Ainslie ParkSpartans are back in pre-season action on Wednesday night with a friendly against Hibernian’s u/20 side (7.30 KO).Dougie Samuel’s team come off the back of a very useful exercise in last weekend’s Ronnie Swan Challenge Trophy, pushing SPFL Division 1 outfit Dunfermline all the way to penalties in Sunday’s highly entertaining Final. The sides met exactly a year ago in similar circumstances, Spartans edging out the Easter Road youngsters 2-1 at the Academy with goals on the night by Chris Anderson and Jack Beacher. It was great to see Ando over the weekend at the Club and we wish him all the best in his new venture. Wednesday will be too soon for Jack however his rehab is progressing well and we look forward to seeing him back in a Spartans jersey in the very near future. For Samuel, the game is first and foremost about getting the players fit ahead of the Petrofac Training Cup clash at Morton on the 26th July and of course, the forthcoming Lowland League campaign. Wednesday’s game will be another great challenge and for the Spartan Army faithful, it’s a good opportunity to see many of the Club’s new signings in action. Last month, Spartans and Hibs announced a unique collaboration aimed at creating the best development pathway for young football players in Scotland. http://www.spartansfc.com/2014/06/13/spartans-hibernian-unveil-pioneering-transition-academy-partnership/ |
