From Clean Sheets to Dirty Diapers

Scott Bennett becomes the 4th player to leave the club this summer. The goalkeeper who had a superb single season with us is stepping back from playing to spend more time with his young family.

Scott was a key member of the title winning squad, contributing 12 clean sheets in 35 performances over the season following his move from Junior side St.Andrews United.

“I’m pretty much retiring from football this summer. My time at Spartans has been fantastic and it has allowed me to enjoy my football again. It has been a great season and I’m glad to be going out on the high of winning the first ever Lowland League. While I missed the last few games of the season due to injury it really has been a superb experience. The staff and players at the club made me feel welcome from the start and I was immediately overawed by how large and professional the club was. ”

“I’ve made the decision to retire now so that I can spend more time with my family. I live in Coupar Angus near Perth so there was a lot of travelling involved and it just feels like the right time to go out on a high.”
