Whatley Moves On, Having Made His Mark

Posted on Friday, June 20th, 2014

Mark Whatley is the third confirmed player to be leaving Ainslie Park this summer as he has secured a move to SPFL League Two side Arbroath.

Having won player of the season last year as well as the Malt & Hops Man of the Season award, Whatley will certainly be missed, however the opportunity to play at a higher level is something he has worked hard for and fully deserves.

Mark, who has been with us for two seasons, played 77 games chipping in with 8 goals after he moved to the club from Tayport. The former Raith Rovers youth player has really enjoyed his time at Spartans, especially the success of last season.

“It was great to win the first lowland league title, especially after the previous season league disappointment. Also, meeting many great people whilst being at the club has been a highlight. The chairman, directors, manager, staff and players have all been a pleasure to be around and work with.”

“I am really looking forward to next season with Arbroath. I have been wanting to get back playing senior football so happy with the move and hopefully can continue the successful season I’ve had last season with more success at my new club. Hopefully Spartans can have another good season and get into the senior ranks too!”

Mark moves on with our best wishes and we hope to see him back at Ainslie Park soon.
