Dubai DannySummer moves are well underway as Manager Dougie Samuel has already added several players to the squad as he prepares for our second season in the Scotttish Sun Lowland League. One player we know won’t be with us next season sadly is Danny Main.Towering defender Danny moved to Ainslie Park last summer, joining the club from Edinburgh University where he captained the men’s 1st team for several seasons and previously worked with Dougie Samuel. Danny will be moving abroad for work but has really enjoyed his single season with the club. “I have had a great time during my year with Spartans. It has been a fantastic season for the club and it was perfect to end the season on a high by winning the Lowland league.” “I am grateful to Dougie for giving me the chance to play here and have again loved working with him and the rest of the management team. I also enjoyed playing alongside many great players this year and am sure the club will go from strength to strength and be looking forward to visiting league clubs on a regular occasion.” “I will miss not just the football side and the great bunch of boys in the dressing room but also the many great people around the club. From those working at the academy, the many dedicated volunteers and fans that have made the time here enjoyable for everyone.” Danny has been a key player for the side this season, starting 28 times and chipping in with 4 goals including an important double against Whitehill Welfare in the South Challenge Cup. Danny has also shown his versatility along the back line too, slotting into a number of different roles along the back line. “I am excited about the move and looking forward to the warm weather! However there will be a bit of me that misses grinding out a result in chilly windswept afternoons at Scottish football grounds.” We hope to see him back at Ainslie Park as a fan in the near future! |
