Posted on Monday, May 5th, 2014

On Saturday the East of Scotland side travelled to Stirling for a League Cup Quarter Final game against Stirling University EOS.  we eventually, coming out 5-1 winners after extra time.

The game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes with David Stewart equalising from a free kick early in the second half after
The University had gone ahead after 30 minutes.

Extra time saw the players dig deep and we scored 4 goals within a 10 minute spell in the first half.  Davy Stewart,
scoring his 18th goal of the season, gave us the lead following a good passage of play down the right side. That opened the floodgates and we added another three goals with Lucazs Rusin scoring a double including a wonderful chip over the Uni keeper. Ian Ballantyne added the other.

Early in the second half of extra time we were reduced to 10 men with Davy Stewart going down under a very heavy challenge and subsequently having to leave the field of play injured. With all our substitutes used, the remaining 10 players had to work hard to see out the rest of the game.

All of the players gave everything they could on the day, however special mention has to go to Roddy MacLeod who has recently stepped up from our Amateur side and once again had an excellent game at the heart of our defence.

The EOS side now travel to play Craigroyston at St Mark’s Park in the League Cup Semi Final tomorrow (Tuesday 6th May) kick off at 6.30pm.

Team: Jackson, Raiker, Boyes, MacLeod, Cochrane(Brown), Stewart, Clapperton(Laird), Cunningham, Rusin, Ballanyne, Gray (Ghamgosar)
