Clouds Clear to Confirm Scoring Record

Posted on Friday, February 7th, 2014

Over the last few weeks we’ve been talking in detail about Keith McLeod and how with each passing week he has got ever closer to equalling the British consecutive scoring record set by Dundee United’s Finn Dossing during the 1960s. Reports suggested that Dossing scored in 15 consecutive games.

This week Keith Anderson, formerly of the Evening News and a big supporter of non league football in the area, contacted a United historian to seek clarity on the numbers. As it turns out, Dossing’s record actually stands at 13 consecutive goals set over a period of 15 games (he missed two games due to injury).

Further research by Kenny McLean, fixture secretary for the Lowland League discovered though that in 1928/29 a Falkirk player named Evelyn Morrison actually scored in 14 consecutive games, thus making him the holder of the British Record.

What does this mean for Cloudie? Well having scored for the 14th consecutive game (without missing any) he now shares the record with Evelyn Morrison and goes into the game against East Kilbride knowing that a single goal will see him, to the best of our knowledge, set a British record of 15 consecutive games.

Keith has already set a sensational milestone by equalling a record which has stood for 85 years, and a modest man himself, will be more focused on trying to get 3 points tomorrow than on breaking the record.

Why not come along though and see if he can do it!
