Double Header at Ainslie Park sees Seniors & EOS in actionWith the Scottish Sun Lowland League side without a fixture, Manager Dougie Samuel has lined up a lunchtime friendly against East Stirling. The SFL 3rd Division outfit were left with a gap in the calendar after scheduled opponents, Albion Rovers progressed to take on Motherwell in the Scottish Cup. Rovers of course having put paid to a Spartans run with a 1-o win at Cliftonhill in Round 2. According to the East Stirling website, the match will allow coach John Coughlin to make some fine tuning to his team following a disappointing defeat against Clyde in their last competitive outing. Despite it’s ‘friendly’ tag, it will be a tough encounter and allows both teams valuable game time for two squads keen to get another 90 minutes under their belts as the inclement weather starts to kick in. The match kicks off at 12.30. Following the final whistle, our East of Scotland side take on Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale in the EOS Match of the Day. Spartans are on a great run and come off the back of a magnificent 6-2 victory last weekend against top of the league Stirling University. Thistle’s manager ex Hearts star Kevin Twaddle is quoted saying Spartans are the team to beat in the league at present as they have not lost in their last 6 matches. This though is all a bit of mind games as Thistle have only lost one league match this season and they will be a tough test for the Spartans team tomorrow. Alex Cunningham’s squad go into the game full of confidence however they will be without the services of Roberts and Boyes. Kick off is at 3pm tomorrow so get along to what should be a great game. |
